The data gathered is comprised of three main sources:
- Ski Resorts Data: location and general information.
- Google Places Data: information about businesses surrounding ski resorts, broken into seven main categorical API call parameters.
- Restaurants
- Bars
- Spas
- Shopping
- Medical
- Grocery
- Loding
- Weather Data: over five years of weather data important to optimal conditions for Downhill Snowsports (skiing and snowboarding),
aggregated from thousands of weather stations in order to centralize data around the ski resorts.
The below map shows almost 400 ski resorts situated around North America, and includes:
- Stations: weather stations used to populate the most recent day of weather data for each ski resort.
- Station Radius: the radius of the furthest station used to populate weather for a given ski resort.
- Google Places by Category: the top five highest rated business establishments for a given ski resort for each Google Places category.
